En alguna parte leí que en la antigua filosofía india, el universo creado es un sonido vibrante y pulsante, cada criatura viviente contribuye con sus propias características únicas a esta música enorme y abrumadora. Filósofos occidentales más tarde aludieron a este concepto como “la música de las esferas”. Desde Pitágoras a Kepler a Kant y la teoría de las cuerdas de hoy, nos plantean que el concepto de un universo resonante continúa hasta nuestros días. Siendo la música mi primer idioma, aplico conceptos musicales a mis trabajos visuales. Ritmo, tono, cromatismo, tensión, acordes, afinación y otros parámetros más inconscientes y oscuros juegan un papel importante. Mi objetivo es producir un sonido visual, una vibración cromática que resuene en el cuerpo del observador de una manera única y personal.
Somewhere I read that in ancient Indian philosophy, the created universe is a vibrant and pulsating sound, each living creature contributing its own unique characteristics to this huge and overwhelming music. Western philosophers later referred to this concept as “the music of the spheres”. From Pythagoras to Kepler to Kant and today’s string theory, we are told that the concept of a resonant universe continues to this day. Music being my first language, I apply musical concepts to my visual works. Rhythm, tone, chromaticism, tension, chords, tuning and other more unconscious and obscure parameters play an important role. My goal is to produce a visual sound, a chromatic vibration that resonates in the body of the observer in a unique and personal way.

Félix Lazo artista visual y músico, en los limites entre lo visual y lo auditivo. Estudió biología por tres años en la Universidad de Chile, al mismo tiempo que completaba sus estudios de música en la Universidad Católica de Chile. Licenciado en Interpretación Superior en Música de la Universidad Católica de Chile, ganó la beca Fulbright y realizó un Magíster en Educación Musical y un Magíster de Educación en Arte de la Universidad de Columbia Nueva York, Teachers College. Entre los años 2002 y 2003 estudió composición musical en el Centre de Creation Musical Iannis Xenakis en Paris. Formado como científico y músico, se encuentra con las artes visuales a una temprana edad. Luego de definir un lenguaje visual entre la pintura de campo de color y el arte povera, se encuentra casualmente con las computadoras logrando unir sus intereses en la ciencia, la música y las artes visuales. Desde entonces, se ha centrado en generar un cuerpo de obra que abarca: instalaciones interactivas, pinturas, grabados, música y obras en diversos medios y formatos.
Félix Lazo is a visual artist and musician, on the limits between the visual and the auditory. He studied biology for three years at the University of Chile, while completing his music studies at the Catholic University of Chile. He received a degree in Music Performance from the Catholic University of Chile, won a Fulbright scholarship and completed a Master's degree in Music Education and a Master's degree in Art Education at Columbia University New York, Teachers College. Between 2002 and 2003 he studied music composition at the Centre de Creation Musical Iannis Xenakis in Paris. Trained as a scientist and musician, he encountered the visual arts at an early age. After defining a visual language somewhere between color field painting and arte povera, he stumbled upon computers by chance, bringing together his interests in science, music and the visual arts. Since then, he has focused on generating a body of work that encompasses: interactive installations, paintings, prints, music and works in various media and formats.
