Hace unos años tuve la oportunidad de estar en el Museo del Prado una tarde, paseándome por los pasillos y visitando a los grandes maestros, me tope con las Meninas de Velazques, es esa ocasión me llamó mucho la atención lo evidente y notorio de las costuras de los tres paños de lino grueso del soporte de la obra.

Esta pintura no solo cuestiona la visualidad desde su imaginario si no también desde su materialidad.

Con eso en mente, tiempo después, comencé a tejer unos paños con hilo de algodón en un telar Maria de 90 cm de ancho que conseguí en un truque con una amiga, este acto de tejer me emparentaba con los textiles de mis antepasados indígenas y me permitían retomar el tema del objeto pintura.

Siendo sudamericano mestizo (europeo + indígena) el textiles ha sido una parte natural de mi entorno domestico desde niño, desde las colchas de las camas, los ponchos, los calcetines las alfombras y los textiles murales sumando a esto, el trabajo con textiles y anudados de mi hermana y los textiles y alfombra que realizó mi madre en los últimos años de su vida. Lo textil me han acompañado desde mi niñez, estando profundamente arraigado en mi adn, cuando empecé a tejer con el telar me pareció algo muy normal y las soluciones a los problemas técnicos se me fueron presentando naturalmente.

Pintar sobre estos textiles implico un acto de ruptura con una estética y una tradición..algo que aun no entiendo cabalmente..mi problemática se plantea como una reflexión del objeto - pintura volviendo a la urdiembre artesanal con el fin de rescatar lo objetual del soporte cuestionando su neutralidad.

Textiles 2023 -

A few years ago I had the opportunity to be in the Prado Museum one afternoon, walking through the corridors and visiting the great masters, I came across the Meninas by Velazques, on that occasion I was very struck by the evident and notorious seams of the three thick linen cloths of the support of the work.

This painting not only questions visuality from its imaginary but also from its materiality.

With that in mind, some time later, I began to weave some cloths with cotton thread on a 90 cm wide Maria loom that I got in a trade with a friend, this act of weaving related me to the textiles of my indigenous ancestors and allowed me to return to the theme of the object painting.

Being a South American of mixed race (European + indigenous) textiles have been a natural part of my domestic environment since I was a child, from the bedspreads, ponchos, socks, carpets and mural textiles, adding to this, the work with textiles and knotting of my sister and the textiles and carpets made by my mother in the last years of her life. Textiles have accompanied me since my childhood, being deeply rooted in my DNA, when I began to weave with the loom it seemed very normal and the solutions to the technical problems were presented to me naturally.

Painting on these textiles implies an act of rupture with an aesthetic and a tradition...something that I still do not fully understand...my problematic is posed as a reflection of the object - painting returning to the handmade warp in order to rescue the objectual of the support questioning its neutrality.
